    It was hard to feel sorry for those kids since they didn't feel sorry for themselves most of the time. I would have liked to read the story from one of the other children's point of view

    Jeannette has a unique perspective in her writing style; I don't recall ever reading anything like her. She had me at hello. Started reading this is the morning, finished it that night. Excellent book.
